Watch Pulp Fiction

June 14th, 2008

Pulp Fiction is an amazing movie for a multitude of reasons. The first thing that makes it amazing is just how popular it is for a movie that mostly hangs on boring and not plot related dialog. Don’t take me wrong, I am not bashing this movie, just stating a fact… pot in Amsterdam and foot massages both have nothing to do with the storyline. ;)

This movie is also known for resurecting John Travolta’s flagged career… Tarantino loves actors and it shows. Compare the quality of the acting in this movie with any movie (except American Graffiti) by George Lucas and you can see the difference that a love and respect for actors can make.

Pulp Fiction has no pretense at being a “great movie”… even its title calls itself “pulp”, or meaningless entertainment… and yet, it is a great movie.

From IMDB: “Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield are two hitmen on the hunt for a briefcase whose contents were stolen from their boss, Marsellus Wallace. They run into a few unexpected detours along the road. Marsellus is out of town, and he’s gotten Vincent to take care of his wife, Mia. That is, take her out for a night on the town. Things go smoothly until one of them makes a huge error. Butch Coolidge is a boxer who’s been approached by Marsellus and been told to throw his latest fight. When Butch ends up killing the other boxer, he must escape Marsellus. Pumpkin and Honey Bunny (not their real names) are two lovebirds/thieves who have decided to rob the restaurant they’re currently eating at. But the restaurant doesn’t turn out to be as easy as the other places they’ve robbed.”

This, is without a doubt, one of the most idiotic passages I have ever read in an article. Now I ask you . . . why on earth did you think it was necessary to bash George Lucas in an article about “PULP FICTION”? What the fuck is wrong with you? What the fuck does George Lucas have to do with “PULP FICTION” in the first place?

God, what a piece of shit this article is!

because I felt it was so. I was trying to figure out just why Quentin Tarantino’s movies were so enjoyable… they are kind of boring, after all. Lucas seemed a good counter point to that because his movies aren’t boring and yet they lack the same kind of grip in my humble opinion.

I was voicing my opinion much as you are voicing yours. :D

If you stop to think without your vitriol in play, you will realize that the comparison is not that far fetched. Both George Lucas and Quentin Tarantino have a lot in common, they both were the revolutionaries of their generation.

Also, I do have to point out that I didn’t bash Lucas. Lucas himself has said that he doesn’t really like actors much.

So, how about next time you check your emotions and colorful vocabulary at the door until you do your homework? :D
