Watch Ocean’s 13

Ocean’s 13, the third in the Ocean’s series of crime drama/comedies is a bit of a reach compared to the previous two movies. It is still enjoyable and certainly not hurt by Al Pacino being the bad guy in it. Ocean’s Thirteen just doesn’t have the same kind of energy as the previous two movies did and the triple cross in the end isn’t as artful. Still well worth the price of admission though.

Watch Die Hard

Die Hard fits the classic textbook definition of a good movie.
A good movie allows the audience to “suspend disbelief.” Don’t get me wrong, it is still a cheesy action flick where some pretty far fetched things happen, but it is realistic enough to where we can just enjoy the ride.
This movie was originally on my “must miss” list until I caught it one night at a friend’s house on HBO. Originally, I thought it was going to be another lame action movie like Ahnald and Van Dammage were making back then… or even worse, some Chuck Norris tripe. When I finally sat down and watched it I was amazed. It was quite the enjoyable ride and seeing Bruce Willis bleed a lot throughout didn’t hurt me any. I had to admit, Die Hard was a good movie. It deserved to be the landmark piece that it was.
For those of you not old enough to remember when it was new I am sure it will seem like just another action flick, but it wasn’t for us old guys. This movie forever changed how action flicks were made.
Alan Rickman did a great job of bringing the movie villain to an all new level too.

War of the Worlds is a special effects showoff piece. Several things are re-enforced in this adaptation of H.G. Wells classic: Steven Spielberg can spend some money, Tom Cruise can run, Dakota Fanning can shriek and Morgan Freeman can narrate. Oh, and Tim Robbins can be crazy.
